UK Student Visa: Your Ticket to Studying in The UK
The United Kingdom is a famous country for international students. Visa overview
With the UK Student Visa, you can study in a degree level, higher, or under degree level course in the United Kingdom.
Financial requirements
You must have enough funds to pay for your course and support yourself in the United Kingdom. The amount you require depends on your situation and what you are applying for.
Course fee: You require having enough finances to pay for your course for one year. This amount will be on your CAS.
Support money: You require showing that you have enough money for your survival depending on where you will be studying. If you are enrolling at an independent residential school, you require paying boarding fees.
- You need approx 1.334 Euros per month for courses in London.
- You require approximately 1.023 Euros/month for courses outside London.
Please note: You must have these funds for no less than 28 successive days. The end date of this time must be within 31 days of your visa application submitting date.
English requirements
You must prove your English language proficiency when applying. You have two options for doing it. - Passing a SELT test.
- You must have a GCSE, A-Level, Scottish National Qualification Level 4 or 5, Scottish Higher or Advanced Higher in English, received via studying at a UK school, which you begin as a minor.
Level of English: You musthave proofthat you can read, write, speak and understand English at a specific level on the CEFR scale. Given below are your English level proficiency requirements.
- If you are studying a degree level or above, you need proficiency equivalent to CEFR level B2.
- If you are learning below degree level, you require a proficiency level equivalent to CEFR level B1.
Please note: If you are learning a degree or higher level, your institute can evaluate your English level for you.
Required documents
When applying for your UK Student Visa, you require providing these documents. Our UK Student Visa Consultant in India can help you gather all these documents for the smooth processing of your visa.
- A present passport or other legal transportation documentation.
- A CAS from your UK University.
You might also need the following documents.
- Evidence that you have enough finances to pay for your course and support yourself in the UK.
- A legal ATAS certificate.
- Proof of parental or guardian consent. (for under 18 applicants)
- Evidence of your relationship with your parents or guardian. (for minor applicants)
- Your TB test results.
- Written permission from your economic sponsor if you have got sponsorship for your fees and living in the past 12 months.
Please note: You must leave a blank page in your passport for your visa if you require giving your biometric data at a visa application center. You will be informed if you need to do this when you apply.

Your spouse and children
Your spouse, partner, and dependent children can apply to stay longer or arrive in the UK. For it, you must be one of the following.
- A doctorate exchange scheme student.
- A new government-sponsored student.
- A full-time student on a postgraduate degree.
And your spouse or child must be one of the following.
- Your husband, partner, or wife.
- Your unmarried partner.
- Your child under 18 years (can be born inside the UK)
When you apply, you require giving proof of your relationships, such as your child’s birth certificate, marriage, or civil partnership certificate.
Expand your visa
You can extend your student visa to stay longer in the UK and continue your studies or apply for a new degree. It applies if you have a Tier 4 Student Visa. To extend your visa, you must meet the following prerequisites. For more information, contact our Student Visa Consultant for UK.
- You require being in the UK on a student visa or Tier 4 General Student Visa.
- You must have an unrestricted offer of a place on a course and a CAS.
- You must show that your studies are at a higher level than your present degree.
Please note: Your partner or children need to apply separately. However, these people can apply simultaneously as you or before the visas’ expiration dates.
Change to this visa
You can switch to a UK student visa if you have permission to stay in the UK. However, you cannot change this visa from any of the following visas.
- A visitor visa.
- A short-term student visa.
- A parent of a child student visa.
- A seasonal worker visa.
- A domestic worker on a private household visa.
- Leave outside the immigration rules.
However, if you do not hold any of these visas, you must meet these conditions to switch.
- You must be in the United Kingdom.
- You must hold an unrestricted offer of a place on a course and a CAS.
