What can you do with this Visa?

With a Student Visa Subclass 500, you can do the following in Australia.

• You can enroll yourself in an eligible course of study.
• You are in and out of Australia unlimited times till your Visa is valid.
• Work maximum 40 hours every two weeks after your course begins.
• Work extra hours in specific sectors.

Staying duration 

You can study for up to 5 years with this temporary Visa in Australia, and your course type and length will decide your stay in the country. However, you can expand your visit. For extending your stay in Australia, the following criteria apply.

• To continue your education, you must submit a new visa application.
• If your student visa is outdated before graduation, you might be eligible for a visitor visa. You require a letter from your institute stating the graduation date.
• If you have or had a student visa and finished particular qualifications in Australia in the last six months, you might be qualified for a Temporary Graduate Visa.
• If you are currently graduated in engineering from a recognized institution, you may be eligible for the Skilled Recognition Graduate Visa.
• If you are expanding your stay for other reasons, you can apply for a new visa, which meets your needs.   

Including family members

You can add family members in your visa application, which are.

• Your partner/ spouse or.
• You or your partner’s dependent child who is under 18 years of age.

Your child must apply for his visa application if, at the time of your application finalization, he has turned 18. Furthermore, you must declare your family members in your visa application, even if the members are planning to join you in Australia later.

• For the higher education sector, 75% of applications are handled in 44 days and 90% in 6 months.
• For foreign affairs or the defense sector, 75% of applications are prepared in 45 days and 90% in 76 days.
• For the non-award industry, 75% of applications are over five months and 90% in 13 months.
• For the independent ELICOS sector, 75% of applications are refined in 4 months and 90% in 9 months.

The processing of your visa application might take more time if you:

• Have filled incomplete or incorrect information.
• Have not deferred all the required documents, or the authorities need further information from you.
• It takes officials more time to process your Visa.

Your visa application won’t be processed until you have paid the proper fees.

Eligibility

Following are the eligibility for and conditions with your Visa.

• You and your family members who are more than 16 years old must fulfill all character requirements.
• Your intention must be to fly home after your course is done.
• You and your family members must meet all health requirements.
• The authorities might not grant the Visa if it is not suitable for an applicant under 18.
• You should not have a visa canceled, or a previous application rejected.
• You must not have any debts with the Australian government.
• If your age is or is over 18, you must sign an Australian Values Statement.
• You must have sufficient money to support your stay.
• If you are applying in Australia, you must have a substantive visa or apply under 28 days of having a student visa or getting a tribunal notice that your visa cancellation is on hold, a particular purpose visa, or a dependent diplomatic visa.    
• You must show evidence that you are entered in the course of study.
• You should have sufficient medical insurance.
• If you are a school student without participating in a secondary student exchange plan, you should be six or more when applying. Also, your age should be 17,18,19 and 20 in grades 9,10,11, and 12, respectively.
